Dedicated to rare, iconic rock n’ roll photography and curated shows from the world’s most recognized photographers and artists, Owner Steven Walker (former Modern English member) has evolved Modern Rocks Gallery into a trusted establishment. The gallery attracts private collectors, interior designers, art consultants, and high-profile projects from all over the world.
In its unique space, you’ll find signed limited edition prints from photographers like Terry O'Neill, Norman Seeff, Masayoshi Sukita, Kevin Cummins, Brian Duffy, Alec Byrne, and Jill Furmanovsky. Modern Rocks Gallery goes beyond just art — it’s a hub for gathering and conversation around the rock and roll nostalgia that stays true to the fabric of Austin.
From their iconic ACL Heritage Collection partnership with Scott Newton and Austin PBS to their Bowie tributes and creative exhibitions, the gallery continues to magnetize the community around music, stories, and timeless fine art photography.
Our favorite collections are the ACL Heritage Collection, Made in Texas, a collection of photography prints taken in the state of Texas, and the Vintage Print Collection, made at the time of the photographic session with the artist.
Browse the site for more, and if you’re an Austin local, make sure to stop in during Open Canopy, Canopy’s monthly 1st Saturday artist studio tour from 1-4pm to get an in-person look at rock n’ roll music history. While you’re there, tour the private artist studios as they open to the public, enjoy free music and cocktails and browse independent art galleries like Modern Rocks Gallery, Yard Dog, Ivester Contemporary and more.
