Intro to Cold Process Soapmaking at CRAFT

  • The Canopy 916 Springdale Road Austin, TX, 78702 United States (map)

Sunday, December 15th

10:00am - 12:00pm

In this introduction to soapmaking, Hannah Moore of Moore Soaps will explain the basic chemistry and materials used to make soap from scratch, as well as safety precautions. Under her guidance, students will create cold process soap batter and customize it with scents and botanical elements. You will also have the opportunity to decorate your own soap packaging, using CRAFT's supplies. Soap needs to cure, so you will be able to cut up your pieces after 24 hours and use the soap after six weeks. Bonus: we'll give you soap to tide you over until yours is ready to use!

In this workshop, you will

  • go through the entire soapmaking process,

  • learn about soapmaking safety and other logistics like where to get supplies for more soapmaking in the future,

  • receive all the supplies you need to

  • make a pound of soap with your choice of essential oils for scent,

  • create packaging for your soap, especially fun if you will give your handmade soap as gifts, and

  • learn in a small class with individual support as needed.

  • full length pants and close-toed shoes required

Reservations required. No kids. Workshops are refundable up to 1 week in advance. 1 spot is for 1 person unless otherwise noted.
